We are located at 1900 Wickersham Drive, just one mile from downtown Juneau! The Alaska Wolf Lodge is close enough to walk to all the shopping, excursion departures, pubs and restaurants, yet far enough to allow your stay to be quiet and peaceful. Most of our guests walk downtown (slight down hill) and take a cab back or use Juneau's excellent public transportation that has a stop just below us. If you are staying in Juneau for awhile, we recommend renting a car. We often arrange to have the car delivered here for our guests at no additional charge.
Juneau is the jewel in the crown that is Southeast Alaska! Using Juneau as your base, you can easily access, via air or marine highway, attractions such as Glacier Bay, Skagway, Tracy Arm, Taku River, and Admiralty Island. When you decide to stay in Juneau, there is plenty to do from hiking trails to museums to shopping! Think of us as your private concierge for pre-booking events. We can reccommend and reserve Helicopter Tours, Fishing Excursions, Whale Watching and Eco-Tours, Mount Roberts Tramway and Glacier Gardens Tours. We highly recommend you have us make any of these reservations when you book your stay with us as these tours and excursions often fill up 6 months before the summer season starts. Here are some suggestions to get you started:
Fishing with Captain Jeff! Jeff is a licensed USCG 50 TON MASTER. All five spieces of salmon (King, Sockeye, Coho, Humpy and Chum) - Halibut and Rock fish are caught frequently within a short boat ride from Juneau. We will also help you arrange for cleaning, packing, smoking and shipping your days catch.
Whale watching and wild life tours are also great fun if fishing is not your thing. Humpback Whale, American Bald Eagles, Seals, and Porpoise are commonly seen and if we get lucky; Orca (J Pod), and Dall's Porpoise, and on the shorelines; Deer, Wolf, Black and Brown Bears.
If Jeff is booked, we send our guests to our good friend Kevin. He is one heck of a fisherman that loves being on the water is South East Alaska. He is also a book author...ask him about the Zombies;)
Neil Nickerson www.alaskasailingcharters.com is a friend of ours that will help you have an unforgettable sailing experience on the S/V Kirsten Anne. We book Neil's day sailing trips directly at the Lodge. Ask about our special adventure package discount!
You may be lucky enough to be in Juneau when some of our local Alaskan celebrities are in town. Russell Newberry, Decky Boss of the Time Bandit and Travis Loftland, Deck Hand on The Wizard were sharing stories of "The Deadliest Catch" Discovery Channel series with me over a few beers at the Alaskan Brewery.
We now have Alaskan beers on tap at the Alaska Wolf Lodge...no charge to our guests!
Helicopter tours with Juneau's only locally owned and operated Helicopter tour company. Some of our guests went a little further with their tour by getting married on the glacier!
Tours and tastings at Roy's Select Alaskan Catch. Roy's cold-smoked Sockeye Salmon is often served here at the Alaska Wolf Lodge. When he is not out catching fish we can usually arrange a free tour of his facility for you. We ship his fish to the "lower 48", so that you can revisit Alaska with your tastebuds when you get home...
Fishing, diving and sight seeing abound less than a mile from the Alaska Wolf Lodge!
